Renewable developer RES has received federal approval for its 436.5-megawatt Tarong West wind farm near Kingaroy in Queensland’s South Burnett region.
The company said the 97-turbine project is expected to enter construction later this year and will support the state’s Energy Road Map.
The scheme has already achieved several key planning milestones, including Development Approval from the State Assessment and Referral Agency in 2024, as well as securing a connection letter from the Australian Energy Market Operator and Powerlink Queensland.
“This progress reflects another important step towards delivering a high impact renewable energy asset for Queensland,” RES said.
The developer also acknowledged federal support during the environmental review. “We extend our appreciation to the Department of Climate Change, the Environment and Water for their engagement and support throughout the EPBC assessment process,” the company added.
