Siemens Gamesa has secured its first confirmed German order for the SG 7-170 onshore wind turbine, signing a deal with Stadtwerke Münster for the Sendenhorst wind farm.
The manufacturer said it will deliver, install and maintain six SG 7-170 turbines with a combined capacity of 42MW.
According to Siemens Gamesa, the project is expected to generate around 130GWh of electricity annually, enough to supply roughly 42,000 households and avoid about 110,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year.
The company added that the Sendenhorst project underlines the importance of close cooperation between utilities, developers and manufacturers in accelerating onshore wind deployment.
Siemens Gamesa said the order also supports Germany’s ambition to reach 115GW of installed onshore wind capacity by 2030.
