Vestas has secured a 26MW turbine supply order from Hiringa Energy for the Kapuni Wind Farm in New Zealand.
The contract covers the supply and installation of four V162-6.4MW EnVentus turbines, optimised to increase energy output. Vestas said the agreement also includes a 20-year service contract to support reliable long-term clean power for local communities and industry.
The Kapuni project is being developed by Hiringa Energy in partnership with Balance Agri-Nutrients, Todd, PKW and New Zealand’s Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE). The developers describe it as one of the country’s first large-scale wind projects designed to support green hydrogen production at scale.
Hiringa co-founder and chair Catherine Clennett said Vestas’s technology and track record in New Zealand would strengthen energy generation capacity and enable the reliable supply of clean hydrogen across its network.
Danny Nielsen, senior vice president and country head for Australia and New Zealand at Vestas, said the partnership would help convert New Zealand’s wind resources into other energy carriers such as clean hydrogen, supporting a secure and independent energy supply.
Deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2026, with commissioning scheduled for the second quarter of 2027.
