Renewable energy developer RP Global is preparing to begin construction of the Walcz onshore wind farm in northwestern Poland after securing its final building permit, the company said.
Preparatory works are due to start in early February, with the project scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2027. RP Global said Walcz will be among the largest onshore wind farms in Poland and is expected to be the second-largest project under construction in the country this year.
“The Walcz project is an important milestone in Poland’s development of large-scale renewable energy facilities,” Wojciech Glocko, country manager of RP Global Poland, said in a statement.
“It reflects our long-term commitment to delivering projects that are aligned with grid availability, local planning requirements, and national energy objectives,” he added.
RP Global has signed a turbine supply agreement with Nordex for 21 N149 turbines, each rated at 5.9 megawatts, with hub heights of 134 metres, the company said.
The developer said Walcz is its first project in Poland to move forward following amendments to the country’s so-called 10H setback rule, which previously restricted onshore wind development. The project forms part of RP Global’s Polish development pipeline, which exceeds 3 gigawatts, it added.
