The UK government has appointed ScottishPower chief executive Keith Anderson to its Industrial Strategy Advisory Council, strengthening energy sector representation on the body advising ministers on long-term economic growth.
The government said the independent council reports to the chancellor and the business and trade secretary, bringing together senior business leaders and academic experts to shape industrial strategy.
Anderson was named British Business Leader of the Year 2025 and has overseen Iberdrola’s largest-ever investment programme in the UK, the government added.
ScottishPower plans to invest £24bn through to 2028 to rewire the electricity grid, build new clean power generation and support supply chain growth and job creation across the country.
“I’m delighted to welcome Dana, Keith and Amelia to the Industrial Strategy Advisory Council,” said Dame Clare Barclay, chair of the council. “Their leadership across creative industries, energy and defence will strengthen our work.”
Anderson said a clear and stable industrial strategy is central to driving economic growth. “The UK’s industrial strategy is critical to unlocking investment, pushing productivity, and driving growth,” he said.
“At ScottishPower, we’re playing a critical role, investing a record £24bn – including £10bn in Scotland – through to 2028 to rewire the grid and build more clean power, delivering thousands of skilled jobs right across the supply chain,” he added.
ScottishPower said it currently has several major projects under construction, including Eastern Green Link 1, a cross-border onshore transmission line, as well as two offshore wind farms forming part of its East Anglia Hub.
