German renewable energy developer WPD has reported record results from the November onshore wind tender in Germany, securing awards for 23 projects with a combined capacity of about 587 megawatts, the company said.
WPD said the outcome represents the largest volume it has ever secured in a single tender and brings its total awarded capacity in 2025 to around 1,135 MW, marking its most successful tender year to date.
“For us, the awards are a confirmation of our work and the basis for the project realisation of the next two years,” said Dr Hartmut Brösamle, a member of WPD’s management board.
“This success would not have been possible without the outstanding commitment of our employees at our 19 German locations,” he added.
WPD said it currently has 33 projects under construction in Germany, comprising 117 turbines with a total capacity of about 644 MW, as it continues to expand its owned portfolio, which now totals 3,644 MW.
The company added that additional projects are in preparation and that its strong focus on the German market supports sustainable job creation alongside its international activities. However, WPD said reliable and stable framework conditions would be essential to ensure the implementation and financing of renewable energy projects beyond the next few years.
