Sweden’s Vattenfall has awarded Jones Bros Civil Engineering UK a contract worth more than £30 million ($X million) to deliver balance of plant works for the Clashindarroch 2 onshore wind farm in Aberdeenshire, the companies said.
The project comprises 14 turbines and is expected to support more than 120 construction jobs during the build phase. The scope of work includes upgrading around nine miles of existing tracks, constructing five miles of new access routes, building turbine foundations and installing cabling to the Cairnford substation.
Jones Bros said the contract also includes a social value plan developed with Vattenfall, under which at least two apprenticeships and one paid work placement will be created.
“We’re delighted to award the contract for balance of plant works at Clashindarroch II to Jones Bros,” said Stuart Matthews, Vattenfall’s senior project manager for the project. “This milestone is about more than delivering infrastructure – it’s about creating lasting value for the region.”
Jones Bros said the appointment builds on its experience delivering wind energy infrastructure, particularly in Scotland.
“We are thrilled to have been appointed to work on Clashindarroch II Wind Farm,” said David Nicolson, contracts manager at Jones Bros. “We have a vast amount of experience working on wind farms, especially in Scotland, and this presents another fantastic opportunity for our highly skilled team to showcase their talents.”
