Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) said on Thursday it has signed a long-term corporate power purchase agreement (CPPA) for its 495-megawatt Formosa 4 offshore wind farm in Taiwan.
The agreement was concluded with Taiwan Smart Electricity & Energy (TSEE), a government-backed electricity aggregator, which will trade power from an undisclosed portion of the wind farm’s total capacity with corporate offtakers, mainly from Taiwan’s semiconductor sector.
“As a pioneering offshore wind developer in the APAC region, SRE is proud to take this major step forward – supporting the businesses that drive Taiwan’s economy and advancing the nation’s energy transition,” the company said.
This is the second CPPA signed by TSEE since its creation, following a 30-year agreement with EDF in October for the 440 MW Wei Lan Hai Changhua project. SRE has also signed contracts with Siemens Gamesa to supply 14 MW turbines and with Century Wind Power for 35 jacket foundations in preparation for the Formosa 4 construction, scheduled to begin next year.
