AD Ports Group and Masdar have signed a partnership agreement to cooperate on the development and delivery of offshore wind projects, the companies said.
Under the agreement, the two sides will identify opportunities for AD Ports Group to act as a partner and contractor on Masdar’s international offshore wind initiatives. Captain Ammar Al Shaiba said the companies would work together to map out areas where the port operator can contribute its maritime and logistics expertise.
“Utilising AD Ports Group’s integrated maritime and logistics capabilities, and years of experience in complex projects, we are uniquely positioned to deliver the technical solutions and operational excellence required for Masdar’s large-scale offshore wind projects,” Al Shaiba said. He added that “leveraging our combined strengths, we have an opportunity to accelerate the deployment of sustainable, innovative, and technologically advanced offshore wind solutions.”
Masdar CEO Mohamed Jameel Al Ramahi said the companies will jointly determine technical requirements and evaluate where AD Ports Group can support project delivery. “Masdar is a global leader in offshore wind, and we are committed to driving development in a sector that is critical to clean energy transformation,” Al Ramahi said. He noted that “through partnerships like this agreement with AD Ports Group, we can expand our reach and deliver impact at greater scale, helping countries around the world to achieve their clean energy objectives.”
Offshore wind is seen as an important element of the global energy transition due to strong and consistent wind resources at sea. Masdar already operates several offshore wind projects in Europe, including the 476MW Baltic Eagle project in Germany and the 1.4GW East Anglia THREE project in the United Kingdom.
The agreement aligns with the UAE’s broader strategy to promote economic diversification and sustainable development.
