Vindr Latvia plans to develop the Vidzeme wind farm in the Cesis region, featuring up to 43 turbines with a total capacity of 309 megawatts, the company said on Tuesday.
Representatives of Vindr Latvia, together with Norwegian Ambassador to Latvia Ine Morenga, visited the project site and met with the Cesis Municipality Council to discuss cooperation and outline project plans.
“We will soon start the environmental impact assessment process and invite citizens to participate in the public consultation,” Vindr Latvia head Baiba Zauere said.
The environmental impact assessment for the wind farm and related infrastructure is expected to begin early next year. Public meetings are planned across Amata, Vaive, Veseliva and Skujene parishes.
Initially, the company had planned two separate wind farms, but the study area was later combined into a single larger project following evaluations of territorial, environmental, and technical factors.
Vindr Latvia is part of an international renewables group developing wind and solar projects in Latvia, Estonia, Norway, and Sweden, and is advancing a Latvian portfolio totaling up to 1.2 gigawatts.
