The commencement of construction for the onshore substation of the 1140MW offshore wind farm marks a significant milestone for the Orlen Group and Northland Power.

Located in the Choczewo municipality, this project will enable the Baltic Power wind farm to receive and harness the energy generated offshore. The development is progressing according to the established schedule, with the farm expected to begin producing zero-carbon energy by 2026.

Daniel Obajtek, President of the board of , expressed the company's pride in being the first in to construct infrastructure facilitating the delivery of offshore electricity to the grid. The company has also initiated work on the installation terminal for offshore wind farms in Świnoujście, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to investing in modern, zero-carbon energy as a crucial aspect of their strategy.

Recognizing the importance of offshore wind farms and small nuclear reactors, President Obajtek emphasized their transformative role in Poland's electricity system and the reinforcement of the region's energy security. PKN Orlen is fully prepared to implement the project, which aims to provide clean and affordable energy to millions of Poles as early as 2026.

Functioning as a central hub for cable lines transmitting electricity from offshore substations situated approximately 30 kilometers away, the substation plays a vital role in the Baltic Power wind farm. Notably, nearly the entire onshore section of the cable's route, spanning around 7 kilometers, will be installed underground, including the landfall routed at a depth of approximately 10 meters beneath the beach, utilizing directional drilling techniques.

PKN Orlen assures that the cable, skillfully installed out of sight, will not interfere with the beach's accessibility or usability. Additionally, the onshore cable route has been meticulously planned to minimize disruption to the natural environment, skillfully bypassing ecologically valuable areas.

The joint efforts of the Orlen Group and Northland Power are propelling the realization of the Baltic Power offshore wind farm, a monumental project that not only contributes to Poland's sustainable energy goals but also serves as a significant step forward in ensuring a cleaner and more secure energy future for the region.
