RES said it has signed its first operations and maintenance (O&M) contract with Matrix Renewables, covering more than 300MW of photovoltaic capacity across the Spanish regions of Jaén, Huelva, Seville, Badajoz and Valladolid.
The company said the agreement strengthens its presence in Andalusia and Extremadura and consolidates its position in Castile and León. Matrix Renewables operates in Spain, Italy, the United Kingdom, Chile and the United States, managing the full life cycle of its assets, RES added.
According to RES, Matrix’s profile requires partners that can deliver technical expertise, reliability, advanced predictive maintenance and digital solutions. Manuel Sanchez-Merenciano, global head of solar, storage and green hydrogen O&M services at RES, said the partnership demonstrates confidence in the company’s capabilities. “This agreement reflects the trust that major IPPs place in our ability to optimise the performance and availability of large, diverse solar portfolios,” he said. “Matrix Renewables sets a high bar for operational quality, and we are pleased to bring our global experience and digital capabilities to support their assets across Spain.”
RES said the contract follows confirmation that it remains in second place globally in solar O&M in the latest Wood Mackenzie ranking, which the company said underscores its ability to provide high-quality service under strict safety and technical standards.
RES manages 21.9GW of maintained solar capacity worldwide, including 8.5GW in Spain, 13GW across EMEA and 3GW in the United States. It is also the leading independent service provider in Chile with 2.3GW under management. The company said the agreement with Matrix Renewables represents a key step in its growth and diversification strategy and strengthens its position in the Spanish photovoltaic market.
