Acciona Energía said it has secured a 20-year power supply contract covering the full output of two renewable energy projects in the Philippines with a combined capacity of 281MW.
The award was made through Round 4 of the Department of Energy’s Green Energy Auction Program. It includes the 101MW Kalayaan 2 wind farm in Laguna, which is under construction, and the 180MWp Daanbantayan solar project in Cebu, where work is expected to begin before the end of 2025.
Acciona Energía said the contract provides long-term certainty for the power to be generated from both sites. The company added that it has more than 2GW of projects under development in the Philippines and recently reorganised its partnerships in Southeast Asia to strengthen its position in priority markets such as the Philippines and Thailand.
The Spanish group has been active in the Philippines since 2016 through its water and infrastructure divisions. Its foundation, acciona.org, has supported rural and underserved communities in the country since 2021, reaching about 3,500 households, small businesses and community centres.
Acciona Energía said the new contract reinforces its commitment to expanding renewable energy in the region.
