Nordex will provide 12 N133 turbines for the 58MW Drumnahough wind farm in County Donegal, Ireland, SSE Renewables and FuturEnergy Ireland said. Pre-construction work is underway at the site, located about 13km from Letterkenny.
The company will handle turbine installation and deliver long-term premium service support once the wind farm is operational. Component deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2027 via Killybegs Harbour, with installation expected later that year. Nordex said it plans to utilise local contractors, suppliers and businesses where possible.
“With construction due to begin in the coming weeks, the appointment of the Nordex Group as turbine provider marks a significant milestone in progressing Drumnahough Wind Farm,” said Patrick Greene, SSE Renewables construction projects director. He added that the company values Nordex’s commitment to leveraging the local supply chain and looks forward to collaborating throughout the construction phase.
Jason Welch, Nordex Group managing director for the UK and Ireland, said: “We’re pleased to have been awarded the contract to manufacture and install turbines for the Drumnahough wind farm – another important milestone in Ireland’s renewable energy journey. With the N133’s suitability for high wind locations and our long-term service commitment, at Nordex, we’re proud to continue to deliver as a trusted, dependable partner in the Irish onshore sector.”
Civil and electrical balance of plant work will be carried out by Sorensen Civil Engineering and Omexom, respectively. SSE Renewables and FuturEnergy Ireland said the project will support Ireland’s Climate Action Plan commitments.
