TotalEnergies has submitted planning approval applications for two offshore wind projects in Germany, moving forward with its North Sea and Baltic Sea developments, the company said.
The filings cover the 2 GW NordseeEnergies 1 project (site N-12.1) in the North Sea and the 1 GW OstseeEnergies project (O-2.2) in the Baltic Sea, submitted to the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) on schedule. The applications come amid market speculation that the company was renegotiating licence terms with German authorities due to changing market conditions.
Antoine Becker, Managing Director Offshore Wind at TotalEnergies in Germany, said: “This marks the first major milestone on the path to successfully implementing our projects and strengthening sustainable energy supply in Germany.” He added: “Everyone is working diligently on implementing the projects, as Germany is the most important European market for the development of our integrated electricity business.”
TotalEnergies expects construction to begin in 2029, with commissioning now scheduled for 2031, one year later than previously anticipated. BSH has up to 18 months from receipt of complete documents to review the applications and issue a planning approval decision.
