South Korea has started consultations to prepare its next offshore wind tender, the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment said on Thursday.
The ministry said it is coordinating with relevant permitting authorities on projects expected to participate in the upcoming offshore round. “The auction will proceed once these discussions are completed,” the ministry said.
In parallel, the government has opened the second-half 2025 onshore wind auction, offering about 230 MW of capacity under fixed-price power purchase contracts. The scheme allows renewable generators to sell electricity at a guaranteed rate for 20 years, according to the ministry.
Bid submissions will be accepted from 17 November to 29 December, with results scheduled for February 2026 following a two-step evaluation. The first stage will assess industrial and economic impact, while the second will focus on quantitative price reviews.
The ministry set a ceiling price of ₩163,846/MWh, citing global levelised cost of energy trends, outcomes from earlier onshore tenders and the recent downward movement in price caps.
