The topside and jacket for the OSS Jasmund offshore substation have been loaded out in the Netherlands in preparation for installation in the Baltic Sea, the HSI consortium said on Tuesday.
According to the group, the topside — measuring 48 metres long, 33 metres wide and 17.5 metres high — was completed at HSM Offshore Energy’s Stormpolder yard and weighs roughly 4,500 tonnes. “The topside was completed at HSM Offshore Energy’s Stormpolder yard and weighs around 4500 tonnes,” the consortium said.
The 72-metre-high jacket structure was fabricated by Smulders in Vlissingen. HSI said both load-out operations required detailed planning, with the components transferred onto barges using custom-designed grillage to ensure structural integrity, load management and efficient transport.
HSI, which brings together HSM Offshore Energy, Smulders and Iv, said OSS Jasmund is the first of three offshore substations the group will deliver to transmission operator 50Hertz under a full EPCIC contract. The consortium said the overall programme is intended to support Europe’s accelerating offshore wind expansion.
