BlueFloat Energy and have announced a significant milestone in their partnership as they sign exclusivity agreements with . The agreements grant them the rights to develop the Sinclair and Scaraben innovation projects, following their successful bidding in the recent INTOG (Innovation and Targeted Oil & Gas) leasing round.

The focus of this collaboration will be on the development of two floating windfarms with a capacity of 99.5MW each. These windfarms will be integrated into the phased delivery plan of the partnership's broader Broadshore project, strategically located 47km north of Fraserburgh.

The Sinclair and Scaraben projects are not just about harnessing ; they will also serve as testbeds for innovative foundation technologies, fabrication works, and mooring systems. The aim is to explore new possibilities and maximize opportunities for the Scottish supply chain, thereby driving local investment and job creation.

The success of the INTOG bid further bolsters BlueFloat Energy and Renantis' already impressive portfolio of ScotWind projects, which currently stands at 3.1GW. Among their existing projects are the 1.2GW Bellrock project and the 900MW Broadshore project. Additionally, the partnership is collaborating with Orsted on the development of the 1GW Stromar project.

Expressing his enthusiasm about the new milestone, Project Director David Robertson commented, “Securing exclusivity to develop close to 200MW of floating offshore wind provides our Partnership with a fantastic opportunity to trial and de-risk new technology in this emerging market. We are also exploring a fresh approach to community ownership of offshore wind projects, ensuring as many people as possible can benefit from the energy transition in Scotland.”

The partnership's dedication to exploring innovative technologies and involving local communities demonstrates their commitment to not only achieving sustainable energy solutions but also fostering economic growth and inclusivity in Scotland's green energy sector. With the Sinclair and Scaraben projects poised for development, the future of floating offshore looks bright in Scottish waters.
