Portuguese renewable energy company Greenvolt has signed a €35 million ($37 million) financing agreement with Denmark’s Ringkjøbing Landbobank to fund the construction and operation of a hybrid solar and battery storage project in Høegholm, eastern Denmark.
The 150-megawatt facility will combine 97.36MW of solar power with a 55–60MW / 110–120MWh battery energy storage system. Greenvolt said the project is scheduled to begin operations in early 2026.
“Hybrid projects like this one, which bring together solar and battery storage, not only make renewable energy generation more efficient but also help us enhance and differentiate our assets,” Greenvolt Group Chief Executive João Manso Neto said in a statement.
The company added that the project is expected to produce about 97 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of solar electricity each year. The integration of battery storage will also aim to improve grid flexibility and stability, Greenvolt said.
The financing marks another step in Greenvolt’s broader strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio across Europe, as the company continues to invest in hybrid and distributed energy systems.
