PPC Renewables Romania has announced an expansion of the Deleni wind farm in Vaslui County, adding 85 megawatts (MW) of new capacity in the second phase of development, the company said.
The project, located near Bogdănița, will include the installation of 14 turbines rated at 6.1MW each, increasing the site’s total generation capacity from 140MW to more than 225MW. Once complete, Deleni will remain the largest operational wind farm in Romania’s Moldova region.
“We continue to take concrete steps in developing our portfolio and remain the first major private investor contributing to the regional development of Moldova,” said PPC Renewables Romania general manager Adrian Dugulan. “After the first stage of the 140MW wind farm in Deleni, we are expanding the investment by another 85MW through this project. Thus, we contribute over 225MW of green energy to the national energy mix and support the reduction of the production capacity deficit in the north of the country.”
The expansion is part of PPC Renewables Romania’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the country’s renewable energy market. The company’s portfolio now exceeds 1.3 gigawatts (GW) of installed and in-development capacity across wind, solar and energy storage projects. Upon completion of both phases of Deleni, PPC Renewables Romania will surpass 1.5GW of renewable generation capacity.
Parent company PPC Group is also accelerating its clean energy growth strategy across Greece, Romania, Italy and Bulgaria. Total installed capacity rose from 4.7GW at the start of 2024 to 6.3GW by mid-2025, with the group targeting 11.8GW by 2027. About 3.7GW of projects are currently under construction or ready to begin building.
The Deleni expansion is among several new investments supporting Romania’s efforts to diversify its power mix and strengthen energy security in the northern regions of the country, while contributing to the European Union’s renewable energy and decarbonisation targets.
