Iberdrola has appointed Professor Paul Simshauser as its new CEO in Australia, replacing Ross Rolfe who will step down at the end of this year but remain chairman of the company’s board in the country.
Iberdrola entered the Australian market in 2020 through its acquisition of Infigen and currently operates nearly 2 gigawatts (GW) of wind and solar capacity, with an additional 662 megawatts (MW) under construction.
“It has been a privilege and an honour to lead Iberdrola’s business in Australia over the past five years,” Rolfe said in a statement. “I am delighted that Paul will lead the next chapter of Iberdrola’s journey in Australia.”
Simshauser brings extensive industry experience, having previously served as CEO of Powerlink Queensland and as a professor of economics at the Centre of Applied Energy Economics and Policy Research.
The leadership transition comes as Iberdrola continues to expand its renewable energy footprint in the region amid growing demand for clean power.
