Danish wind turbine installation and maintenance company FairWind has agreed to acquire Australia-based Cosmic Group, in a move aimed at expanding its operations in the Asia-Pacific region and accelerating global growth.
The acquisition will allow FairWind to broaden its footprint in Australia and extend its services to New Zealand and Japan. The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, pending regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Brisbane-based Cosmic Group, which employs around 100 wind technicians, will become FairWind’s regional hub for Asia-Pacific operations. The company will continue to operate under the Cosmic name to ensure continuity for ongoing projects and clients. Cosmic’s co-founder, Matt Crossan, will assume the role of regional director.
“This collaboration with Cosmic is a significant step in our growth strategy,” FairWind Chief Executive Stewart Mitchell said in a statement. “There are great synergies between the two organisations, with shared values and unwavering commitment to safety.”
Mitchell added that the combination of the two companies’ technical expertise and experience in both onshore and offshore wind would enhance FairWind’s ability to support customers globally. “Together… we’re extending our geographic reach while strengthening our capability,” he said.
Founded in Australia, Cosmic Group has established itself as a regional provider of wind installation and maintenance services. Crossan said the partnership would help support increasing demand as new wind technologies are introduced across the region.
“With the installed turbine base set to continue to increase and the next generation of wind turbines being introduced to the region by our customers, there is significant potential for growth across Asia Pacific,” Crossan said. “By joining FairWind, we have a partner who enhances our existing capability and we are excited for the next phase of the business.”
FairWind employs more than 2,000 people across over 40 countries and provides services throughout the lifecycle of onshore and offshore wind turbine projects.
