Renewable energy developer R.Power has secured 115 megawatts (MW) of hybrid solar and battery storage capacity in Germany’s latest EEG Innovation Auction, the company said on Tuesday.
Two of R.Power’s subsidiaries were awarded 20-year support contracts from Germany’s Federal Network Agency for photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects. The auction was held under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) innovation mechanism.
The EEG scheme provides revenue stability by compensating project operators for the difference between their submitted bid price and the average monthly spot market electricity price.
“Winning Germany’s EEG Innovation Auction confirms the competitiveness and maturity of our hybrid PV + BESS model,” said Przemek Pięta, CEO and founder of R.Power. “This success strengthens our footprint in one of Europe’s most advanced renewable markets and reflects our long-term vision of integrating solar generation with storage as a foundation of the future power system.”
R.Power said the selected projects will contribute to clean, flexible, and reliable energy supply for the German grid, supporting grid stability and greater integration of renewable energy sources.
Germany has increased its focus on hybrid systems combining generation and storage as part of efforts to manage intermittency in renewable output and ensure secure energy delivery amid the country’s energy transition targets.
