Tekmar Group has signed an exclusive framework agreement with Belgian marine contractor Jan De Nul for the supply of its latest-generation cable protection systems (CPS) for offshore wind projects in Germany, the UK-based company said on Wednesday.
The agreement will support multiple developments under German grid operator TenneT’s 2GW offshore wind programme. Tekmar’s 10th Generation CPS technology will be deployed across several projects, with the first two already awarded and deliveries scheduled for financial years 2027 and 2028.
“We are delighted to extend our relationship with Jan De Nul through this new framework agreement. It demonstrates the confidence placed in Tekmar’s engineering expertise and delivery capability, while providing a clear pathway of multi-project opportunities in the growing German offshore wind market,” said Richard Turner, chief executive of Tekmar Group.
The CPS units are designed to protect subsea power cables from environmental and operational risks during installation and throughout their operational life. Tekmar said the framework agreement offers long-term visibility in one of Europe’s most active offshore wind markets.
Jan De Nul, which is overseeing subsea cable installation for TenneT’s projects, cited Tekmar’s track record and innovation in its selection process.
“Jan De Nul selected Tekmar’s 10th Generation Cable Protection System for its combination of proven track record and continuous innovation,” said Harold Heeffer, portfolio director for subsea cables at Jan De Nul. “This framework agreement secures reliable technology for multiple projects within TenneT’s 2GW Program and strengthens the long-term collaboration between our companies.”
Germany is targeting significant offshore wind capacity expansion as part of its broader energy transition strategy, with the TenneT 2GW programme forming a central pillar in delivering high-capacity grid connections from offshore sites to onshore infrastructure.
