German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has been awarded the IECRE type certificate for its N175/6X model by certification body TUV SUD, three months ahead of schedule, the company said on Tuesday.
The certification verifies that the turbine’s theoretical design aligns with measured field data, including performance metrics, mechanical loads, and rotor blade lifespan.
“The type certificate is a key proof of the technical conformity of our turbine,” said Janina Springborn, senior project manager certification at Nordex. “It confirms that the N175/6.X meets all safety-related and performance requirements according to international standards — based on extensive testing and field measurements.”
The first N175/6X turbine was installed and tested in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, in 2024.
Type certification is a prerequisite for participation in tenders and project approvals worldwide and is considered critical for building confidence among developers and operators.
Since its launch, Nordex has secured more than 2 gigawatts of orders featuring the N175/6X turbine.
