The Offshore Wind Growth Partnership (OWGP) has appointed former Siemens Gamesa UK managing director Clark MacFarlane as an independent director to its board, the organisation said on Tuesday.
MacFarlane brings over four decades of experience from Siemens, where he held senior roles across multiple sectors including power generation, defence, and wind energy. From 2012 to 2023, he served as UK managing director and CEO for Siemens’ wind business in Europe and the Middle East.
He has played a key role in shaping the UK’s offshore wind sector, contributing to the Offshore Wind Sector Deal, the creation of OWGP, and the development of the Industrial Growth Plan.
“I’m thrilled to join the OWGP board at such an important time for the industry,” MacFarlane said. “The UK has established itself as a global leader in offshore wind, but to maintain that position we must continue to invest in and grow our domestic supply chain.”
MacFarlane has also served as vice-chair of the Offshore Wind Industry Council, and held board positions at RenewableUK and the G+ global offshore wind safety organisation.
OWGP programme director Anil Sayhan welcomed the appointment, noting: “Clark has an extensive track record of leadership across multiple sectors. He is well known for his long-standing commitment to strengthening the offshore wind supply chain.”
OWGP chair Tim Pick added: “Clark needs no introduction to the sector, having been at the forefront of offshore wind supply chain development in the UK for many years.”
OWGP, established under the Offshore Wind Sector Deal, became the delivery body for the UK’s Industrial Growth Plan in June 2025. It is responsible for coordinating its implementation and tracking progress across the offshore wind sector.
MacFarlane said OWGP plays a “unique role in enabling businesses to expand, compete and deliver long-term value for the UK economy.
