Offshore survey firm Next Geosolutions has signed an eight-year framework agreement with German transmission system operator 50Hertz to provide geotechnical seabed survey services for offshore substations in the North Sea and Baltic Sea.
Under the multi-million-euro deal, NextGeo will act as the primary provider of seabed survey support for 50Hertz, which is part of Belgium-based Elia Group. The agreement covers geotechnical investigations essential to the planning and construction of offshore energy infrastructure.
Survey operations will be conducted using NextGeo’s fleet of offshore vessels, including the NG Driller geotechnical drilling ship, with additional support from specialised technology to enhance safety and efficiency.
“This signing with 50Hertz is the result of a great commitment to building long-term relationships with our clients,” said Valentina De Rienzo, chief commercial officer at NextGeo. “It highlights the strength of our commercial strategy and confirms NextGeo’s role as a trusted partner in supporting the development of European offshore energy infrastructure.”
The company said the agreement reflects its growing presence in the European offshore renewables sector, where seabed data plays a key role in project design and risk mitigation.
“We are proud to have gained the trust of 50Hertz in our specialised people and technologies to provide them with the data that will be fundamental for the safe and efficient design of their offshore substations in Germany,” said Frank Koopman, offshore wind strategy director at NextGeo.
The contract comes amid increased investment in offshore energy infrastructure across Europe, as transmission operators scale up grid connections to meet renewable energy targets.
