Mainstream Renewable Power's Una Brosnan, Equinor's Halfdan Brustad, Orsted's Duncan Clark, and RES's Ian Hunter have been elected to RenewableUK's 12-person Board for 2023. The selection process involved choosing the most qualified candidates from a pool of 40 individuals.
Duncan Clark and Halfdan Brustad are joining the RenewableUK Board for the first time, while Una Brosnan and Ian Hunter have been re-elected, securing their positions for another three-year term. Brosnan holds the position of Senior Vice President and Head of Offshore Ireland at Mainstream Renewable Power, while Brustad serves as the Vice President for UK Renewables at Equinor. Clark leads Orsted's operations in the UK, where the company has invested over £14 billion in the development of offshore wind farms. Ian Hunter serves as the Operations Director at RES, a company with a longstanding presence in the UK's renewable energy sector spanning over 40 years.
The election outcome ensures that RenewableUK's elected Board remains gender-balanced, comprising six women and six men.
RenewableUK CEO Dan McGrail expressed his satisfaction with the results, stating, “I'm pleased to welcome these accomplished industry leaders to our Board during this critical period for RenewableUK and our members, as we rapidly expand renewable energy to meet our net-zero and energy security goals.”
While acknowledging that the energy sector still has progress to make in reflecting the broader society, McGrail highlighted the gender parity among the Board's leaders as a testament to the increasing diversity of leadership within the renewables industry. He expressed eagerness to collaborate with the new Board members in supporting the industry's rapid growth.
