German wind turbine manufacturer Enercon has signed a supply agreement with Alterric to deliver 13 of its E-175 EP5 E2 turbines for the Kutenholz wind farm repowering project in Lower Saxony.
The 91-megawatt project will replace 20 older E-66 turbines with Enercon’s latest 7MW flagship model. The new turbines feature a 175-metre rotor diameter and a hub height of 162 metres, mounted on hybrid steel towers.
Enercon said certification for the new tower variant was presented this week by TÜV Süd at the Husum Wind trade fair.
Installation is expected to begin in spring 2026, with commissioning planned for the fourth quarter of the year.
The repowering initiative is part of ongoing efforts in Germany to modernize aging wind assets with newer, more efficient technologies.
