Ocean Winds has signed contracts with Polish firms for the onshore export infrastructure of its 390 megawatt (MW) BC-Wind offshore wind project, marking a key step toward connecting the development to the national grid.
Engineering firm P&Q has been selected as the main contractor for the construction of the onshore cable trench, while Tele-Fonika Kable will supply and install the export cable system, the company said on Thursday.
The scope of work includes the design, delivery and installation of approximately 8 kilometres of onshore export cable linking the landfall site in Choczewo municipality to the project’s onshore substation.
Ocean Winds said the agreements represent a significant milestone for the project and reinforce its commitment to supporting local industry.
“These agreements are an important milestone in enabling clean electricity from the project to reach the grid,” the company said in a statement.
The developer added that local sourcing will contribute to job creation, enhance domestic technical capabilities, and align with Poland’s broader renewable energy targets.
The BC-Wind project, which will use Siemens Gamesa 15MW turbines, is scheduled to become operational in 2028.
