Danish offshore wind services firm Cadeler has signed a firm contract with Taiwan’s Synera Renewable Energy for the transportation and installation of 35 Siemens Gamesa 14MW turbines at the planned 495MW Formosa 4 offshore wind farm.
The project, located 18–20 km off the coast of Miaoli County in northwestern Taiwan, is expected to begin offshore operations in March 2028 and last approximately 150 days. Turbines will be installed at water depths ranging from 57 to 64 metres across a 58 km² site.
Cadeler said the contract is expected to generate revenue between €70 million and €80 million.
The work will be carried out using one of Cadeler’s new M-class wind turbine installation vessels. The agreement forms part of a wider reservation deal signed earlier in 2024 covering two projects in the Asia-Pacific region. Discussions regarding the second project are ongoing.
“This milestone project further anchors Cadeler’s strategic presence in the Asia-Pacific region. With an M-class vessel, we are bringing best-in-class technology to Taiwan’s shores, building a bridge between continents and the infrastructure for a cleaner tomorrow,” said Cadeler CEO Mikkel Gleerup.
Cadeler noted that its Taipei office is supporting regional expansion efforts, with two of its vessels already operating in Asia-Pacific.
