Germany’s federal network agency has awarded 2,271 megawatts (MW) of solar capacity in its latest auction for ground-mounted and certain non-building solar installations, following strong competition among bidders.
The 1 July 2025 tender saw 313 bids submitted for a total of 2.82 gigawatts (GW), exceeding the 2.266GW on offer, the regulator said in a statement. A total of 258 bids were accepted, while 36 were excluded from the process.
Award prices ranged between €0.04 and €0.0626 per kilowatt-hour (kWh), with the average volume-weighted price settling at €0.0484/kWh. This marks a slight increase from €0.0466/kWh recorded in the previous round.
Bavaria secured the largest volume of awards, with 689MW granted across 106 projects. Rhineland-Palatinate followed with 251MW, while Lower Saxony received 250MW.
“The level of competition in the auction continues to keep award prices well below the maximum permissible level and ensures stable planning conditions for participants,” said Klaus Müller, president of the federal network agency.
The next auction for this category of solar projects is scheduled for 1 December 2025.
