Island Green Power (IGP) has concluded the second phase of public consultation for its proposed 500-megawatt (MW) East Pye solar farm in Norfolk, the company said this week.
The consultation period, which ran for more than seven weeks, included a series of in-person and online events to present the latest project designs and gather feedback from local communities. The East Pye project is planned for development near Long Stratton and will include a co-located battery energy storage facility.
“On behalf of the East Pye Solar team, I would like to thank everyone who took the time to engage with our consultation, either through attending one of our events, getting in touch via the communication channels, or by providing feedback,” said IGP project development manager Samantha Jones. “We are also grateful for the opportunity to meet individually with residents and local communities living near the site to understand better their concerns first-hand.”
Jones added that feedback from the consultation, along with ongoing environmental assessments, will inform the final design and planning documents. IGP expects to submit a Development Consent Order (DCO) application to the UK Planning Inspectorate in the fourth quarter of 2025.
If approved, construction of the solar project would begin no earlier than 2028.
The East Pye project is among several large-scale solar developments being proposed across the UK as part of efforts to increase renewable electricity generation and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
