Statkraft has reached an agreement to sell its Canadian renewables unit, Enerfin Canada, to Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, the company said on Thursday.
The deal covers a team of employees, 236 megawatts (MW) of operational wind capacity, and a development portfolio consisting of six wind and solar projects totaling 800 MW. Enerfin Canada is based in Montreal, with additional offices in Calgary and Saint-Ferdinand.
Barbara Flesche, Statkraft’s executive vice president, said, “I am happy to announce that we have agreed to sell our renewables portfolio in Canada to Atlantica Sustainable Infrastructure, who will be able to grow this business further. The deal confirms that Enerfin built a skilled team and attractive portfolio in Canada. We are looking forward to watching the business grow under new ownership.”
The transaction is expected to close by the end of 2025. Financial details were not disclosed.
Statkraft acquired Enerfin, including its Canadian assets, in May 2024, also expanding its footprint in Spain and Brazil.
Flesche added, “I am pleased that by signing this deal we have successfully agreed to sell the last of the planned divestments of our Enerfin portfolio in countries outside Statkraft’s core markets. We have worked on the sales processes since the completion of the Enerfin acquisition, and they have been delayed by increased global uncertainty.
