TenneT has appointed Ina Kamps as chief operating officer of its German operations, completing the management team of TenneT Germany ahead of a planned structural shift within the company.
Kamps, who previously served as head of offshore wind in Germany at BP, brings nearly 20 years of experience in the renewable energy sector. In her new role, she will oversee TenneT Germany’s operational business, with a focus on onshore and offshore grid expansion, maintenance, network operations, and safety.
“The management of TenneT Germany is now complete – an important milestone,” said Tim Meyerjürgens, CEO of TenneT Germany. “Ina Kamps brings a clear perspective on the strategic priorities of the energy transition – especially in the expansion of electricity grids on land and at sea.”
“She knows offshore wind energy from long-standing practice and has international expertise in the energy sector. Her strategic implementation strength and deep industry understanding make her the ideal candidate for the core operational business of TenneT Germany,” he added.
Kamps joins the leadership team alongside Meyerjürgens, CFO Markus Binder and CTO Kathrin Günther.
Her appointment comes as part of TenneT’s wider reorganisation, under which the company will split into two national transmission system operators—TenneT Netherlands and TenneT Germany—effective January 1, 2025. Both entities will operate independently but remain under the umbrella of TenneT Holding.
The leadership reshuffle is designed to strengthen operational focus in each market and lay the groundwork for additional investor participation in TenneT Germany, the company said.
Actively shaping and decisively advancing the energy system of the future is what drives me,” Kamps said in a statement. “A powerful, integrated, and reliable transmission network is the foundation for this and essential for a strong economic location – in Germany and Europe.
Kamps, who is also involved in the German Offshore Wind Energy Association (BWO), said she looks forward to working with stakeholders across the sector to advance network expansion and ensure safe operations.
