German wind turbine manufacturer Nordex Group has received a 91-megawatt (MW) turbine order from onshore wind developer SAB WindTeam for a project in Brandenburg, the company said on Monday.
The order includes 13 N163/6.X turbines, each with a hub height of 164 metres, to be installed at the Fretzdorfer Heide wind farm near Wittstock/Dosse in northeastern Germany. The agreement also covers a 20-year premium service contract aimed at ensuring long-term turbine performance.
Installation work at the forest site is expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with full commissioning planned for spring 2027.
“We’re proud to once again collaborate with SAB WindTeam on a project of this scale like the Fretzdorfer Heide wind farm,” said Felipe Villalon Waldburg-Zeil, Director Sales Region Central at Nordex Group. “This initiative sends a clear message in support of Germany’s renewable energy expansion and sustainable progress in Brandenburg.”
Lars Niebuhr, Managing Director of SAB WindTeam, said the selected turbine model is well-suited for the site’s conditions. “We are pleased to be working with Nordex to implement a large wind farm at a forest site for which these turbines are ideally suited,” he said.
The Fretzdorfer Heide project adds to a growing number of forest-based wind farms in Germany, as the country accelerates its transition to renewable energy.
