Norwegian energy company Statkraft has entered into two long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with Nadara to buy wind energy from two operational onshore wind farms in Italy, the firms said on Wednesday.
Under the deals, Statkraft will purchase approximately 60 gigawatt hours (GWh) annually from each of Nadara’s Minervino and San Sostene projects. The agreements, set to begin in January 2026, run for 10 years and five years respectively.
Both wind farms had previously operated under government subsidy schemes, which have now ended.
“These are sites with real history,” said Maria Mura, head of South Europe origination at Nadara. “This agreement allows us to give them a new chapter, ensuring their continued operation while providing a stable and predictable revenue stream.”
Statkraft said the contracts expand its portfolio in Italy and enhance its capacity to offer a balanced renewable energy mix.
“The addition of wind power helps us deliver a more comprehensive and diversified offering to the Italian market,” said Simon Kornek, vice president of South European origination at Statkraft.
The companies noted that the PPAs underscore the increasing maturity of Italy’s renewable energy sector and the important role long-term contracts play in securing revenue for assets transitioning away from subsidies.
