Vejle Municipality has granted approval to Eurowind Energy’s Energipark Øster Starup, marking the first renewable energy project endorsed by the Danish municipality in several years.
The 51.3-megawatt (MW) hybrid energy facility will combine 22.5 MW of wind power with 28.8 MW of solar energy, spanning approximately 40 hectares. The project is expected to become operational by 2027.
Jesper Houe, head of Danish development at Eurowind Energy, welcomed the decision, noting the municipality’s detailed evaluation process. “Vejle Municipality has conducted a thorough approval process, including a long preliminary phase where the local population was involved,” he said. “It is, of course, particularly gratifying that we can now continue the process.
According to Eurowind Energy, the project has undergone extensive preparation, with attention given to both environmental and local community considerations.
The development aligns with Denmark’s broader strategy to expand renewable energy capacity and reduce carbon emissions.
