Wind turbine manufacturer Nordex has secured an order from German renewable energy developer UKA for 64 turbines with a combined capacity of 435 megawatts (MW), the company said on Tuesday.
The order includes 52 of Nordex’s N175/6.X turbines and 12 N163/6.X units, to be installed across multiple wind farms in Germany. The deal forms part of an ongoing framework agreement between the two companies.
All N175 models will be mounted on 179-metre hybrid towers and deployed across 15 sites located in Brandenburg, Thuringia, North Rhine-Westphalia, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Lower Saxony. Installation and commissioning are scheduled for 2026 and 2027, depending on the timelines of individual projects.
The contracts also include premium service agreements with a term of 20 years.
“These orders represent another important milestone in our strong partnership with UKA,” said José Luis Blanco, chief executive of Nordex. “We are delighted that UKA has once again chosen our latest N175/6.X turbine for the majority of its projects across Germany.”
UKA CEO Gernot Gauglitz noted that the company has ordered 226 turbines from Nordex in the past 18 months, amounting to more than 1.5 gigawatts of capacity.
“This current order for 64 turbines is an extraordinary achievement that fills me with pride,” Gauglitz said. “Now that German policymakers have created the framework, I am delighted that we can move the energy transition forward together with Nordex.
Germany is targeting a rapid expansion of wind power capacity as part of its broader strategy to meet climate targets and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
