Offshore wind developer Ventyr has selected Worley Rosenberg as its preferred contractor for the offshore substation at the Sørlige Nordsjø II wind project, marking a significant step forward for one of Norway’s flagship renewable energy developments.
The agreement includes an early works phase set to begin this month, with full engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) activities scheduled to commence in December 2025, the companies said in a statement on Thursday.
Ventyr, a joint venture between Belgian offshore wind firm Parkwind and Ingka Investments, the investment arm of the Ingka Group (IKEA’s largest franchisee), said the project will provide electricity to approximately 500,000 Norwegian households annually once completed.
Worley Rosenberg, based in Stavanger, will undertake its first offshore substation EPCI under the deal, combining domestic capabilities with support from international engineering partners.
“This project is about accelerating innovation in renewable energy while creating positive impact across Norwegian communities,” said Wim Verrept, project director at Ventyr.
Parkwind described the appointment as a signal of growing momentum in Norway’s emerging offshore wind sector and a strategic move for the Ventyr consortium.
Sørlige Nordsjø II is part of Norway’s broader push to develop offshore wind capacity in the North Sea as the country seeks to diversify its energy portfolio and meet climate targets.
