Singapore-based shipbuilder Strategic Marine has delivered two new crew transfer vessels (CTVs) to Louis Dreyfus Armateurs (LDA), bolstering the French company’s capabilities in the offshore wind sector across France and Europe.
The newly built vessels are sister ships to Acti’Vent and Esti’Vent, which are already in operation within LDA’s fleet. Constructed at Strategic Marine’s yard in Singapore, the 27-metre aluminium catamarans are based on the company’s StratCat 27 design, developed to meet the operational demands of offshore renewable projects.
Designed to carry up to 24 technicians, the CTVs aim to provide improved safety, performance, and comfort in challenging marine conditions, according to Strategic Marine.
“We are delighted to deliver these two state-of-the-art CTVs to our valued customer Louis Dreyfus Armateurs,” said Chan Eng Yew, chief executive of Strategic Marine. “These vessels are the second pair of CTVs which we have delivered in the past two years. The deliveries mark another important milestone in our shared commitment to advancing offshore wind operations through innovation, quality, and performance.”
LDA’s managing director for renewables, Gaël Cailleaux, said the additions will support the company’s ongoing expansion in the offshore wind sector. “In line with our commitment to deliver operational excellence, we are confident that these two StratCat 27 vessels will reliably support the growing offshore wind market in France and Europe,” he said.
The delivery comes as offshore wind activity in France continues to expand. LDA’s joint venture with Tidal Transit, LD Tide, manages a fleet of CTVs, with three currently servicing the St-Nazaire offshore wind farm. The Acti’Vent is dedicated to transporting maintenance technicians at the Fécamp wind farm, while the Esti’Vent supports installation work on other projects.
Strategic Marine noted that the StratCat 27 design continues to gain traction in both European and Asian offshore wind markets.
