Maersk Offshore Wind has launched its newly constructed wind turbine installation vessel (WIV) at Seatrium’s Tuas Boulevard Yard in Singapore, marking a key step in the company’s efforts to support the global offshore wind sector.
The vessel, designed as a next-generation installation unit, was floated out during a ceremony attended by representatives from both Maersk Offshore Wind and Seatrium. The event began with a traditional prayer and proceeded with the vessel being towed from the dock to the quayside.
“This also marks a phenomenal 15 million work hours with zero lost time injuries (LTIs) at Seatrium’s flagship Tuas Boulevard Yard,” a Maersk Offshore Wind spokesperson said. “Congratulations to the on-site teams at both Seatrium and Maersk Offshore Wind for reaching this tremendous milestone, thank you for always keeping safety at the fore.”
The vessel, described by Maersk as part of a broader strategy to enhance offshore wind infrastructure, will next undergo crane installation. The company noted the float-out as an important milestone in advancing renewable energy capabilities.
