Infinis has announced the appointment of Bruce Heppenstall as its new Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Shane Pickering, who will retire after nearly a decade with the company. Heppenstall, currently Plant Director at Drax Group, will assume the role on 2 June.
Pickering joined Infinis in 2015 as Director of Operations and became CEO in 2016 following the company’s acquisition by 3i Infrastructure. Under his leadership, Infinis expanded its operations and became a diversified renewable energy platform in the UK, growing its core business of methane capture and conversion into low-carbon electricity, while also branching into solar energy.
Reflecting on his tenure, Pickering said, “Leading Infinis has been an incredible experience, and I’m immensely proud of what we’ve achieved together. I want to thank our fantastic team for their unwavering dedication and commitment as well as to the board members and 3i Infrastructure for their invaluable contributions in making Infinis a leader in renewable energy.
Tony Cocker, Chair of Infinis, praised Pickering’s leadership, saying, “We extend our deepest gratitude to Shane for his leadership and the lasting impact he has made at Infinis. His vision and dedication have shaped our journey, and we wish him all the best in his well-earned retirement.
Looking ahead, Cocker expressed optimism about Heppenstall’s leadership, adding, “We’re excited to welcome Bruce, whose experience and leadership will take Infinis forward into a new chapter of growth and progress.”
In his own remarks, Heppenstall said, “I’m honoured to join Infinis at such an exciting time for the renewable energy sector. Shane has built a strong, forward-thinking organisation, and I look forward to working with the team to continue delivering low-carbon energy solutions that make a real impact.
