Iberdrola and Kansai Electric Power Company have extended their strategic partnership to focus on accelerating electrification through joint investments in electricity grid and renewable energy projects worldwide.
The renewed agreement marks a “strategic milestone” for both companies, providing a platform to explore further investment opportunities across various technologies and regions within the renewable energy and electricity grid sectors.
This extension of their collaboration follows their successful co-investment in the 315MW Windanker offshore wind farm located in the German Baltic Sea, which was completed in December 2024.
In addition to their offshore wind venture, Iberdrola and Kansai have also jointly invested in Electricity North West (ENW), a UK-based electricity distribution network operator. Iberdrola holds an 88% stake in ENW, while the consortium led by Kansai owns the remaining 12%.
The companies' collaboration aims to enhance their global efforts to foster a transition to cleaner, more sustainable energy sources.
