Iberdrola has completed the sale of its 350MW Baixo Iguacu hydroelectric plant in Brazil to French electricity company EDF. Through its Brazilian subsidiary, Neoenergia, Iberdrola held a 70% stake in the hydroelectric asset, which is located in the Parana region.
The sale is in line with Iberdrola’s ongoing asset rotation strategy, aimed at optimising its portfolio, creating value, and maintaining capital discipline. The company emphasised that this transaction is part of a broader effort to simplify its structure.
Iberdrola has recently focused on forming strategic long-term partnerships to accelerate growth while continuing its commitment to decarbonising the global economy. The company has highlighted its aim to strengthen its financial position as part of these ongoing efforts.
