DP Energy's 430-megawatt (MW) Callide has been granted approval by the Australian government, paving the way for construction to begin later this year. The project, located in the Calliope Range in Queensland, is expected to produce enough electricity to power approximately 130,000 households in the region.

Once completed, the Callide Wind Farm will contribute to Queensland's climate goals, supporting the state's target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 30% by 2030. In addition to its environmental impact, the project is expected to create direct employment opportunities during its construction and operation, as well as indirect opportunities through increased demand for local goods and services.

DP Energy has secured approval from the Australian Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (EBPC) for the wind farm. The company is also working towards obtaining approval for its 700MW Euston Wind Farm in New South Wales.

Hugh Cantwell, head of development for DP Energy Australia, expressed satisfaction with the approval, stating, “After working closely with the Department, we are very pleased to have achieved this key milestone for the project. We look forward to advancing the project towards construction and making a meaningful contribution to Queensland's renewable energy future.
