BNZ Acquires 127.7 MW of Solar Projects in Sicily to Support Regional Energy Transition

Solar-focused independent power producer (IPP) BNZ has acquired two solar projects in Sicily, Italy, from Srl, totaling 127.7 MW. The projects, located in the municipalities of Francofonte and Lercara Friddi, are slated to become operational by the end of 2026.

The marks BNZ's ongoing commitment to local communities, particularly in Francofonte, where the company is working with local authorities to establish an agro-energy community.

This initiative will integrate renewable energy production with support for regional agriculture, including Sicily's famous citrus industry.

BNZ, focused on southern , is on track to deploy 1.7 GW of renewable energy projects by 2026. The company also recently secured EUR 166 million (USD 175.3 million) in financing from the (EIB) to advance the development of 17 solar farms across Spain, Italy, and , collectively contributing more than 700 MW to the region's renewable energy capacity.
