PepsiCo's Polish division has launched its largest photovoltaic (PV) farm in Poland, located in the southwestern Lower Silesia province.
The 3.5 MW facility, which marks a significant step in the company's renewable energy strategy, is designed to power PepsiCo's new plant producing popular snack brands such as Lay's and Doritos.
The first phase of the project, recently completed, includes the installation of over 6,000 bifacial PV modules across a 2-hectare area. The solar farm is expected to generate 2.8 GWh of electricity annually, meeting 24% of the factory's total energy demand of 11.7 GWh per year.
Tomasz Bronny, CEO of the facility, noted that the project aligns with PepsiCo's commitment to developing its renewable energy sources. The company has invested PLN 22 million in renewable energy initiatives this year.
The Swiete PV farm is PepsiCo's fourth in Poland, and the company plans to expand further with at least another 3 MW of solar capacity set for installation in 2025.
