Singapore-based Vena Energy has named South Korea's LS Cable & Systems as the preferred supplier for high-voltage subsea cables for its 504-MW Taean Offshore Wind Farm, located off South Chungcheong Province.
Under the agreement, LS Cable will handle the engineering, manufacturing, delivery, and installation of the cables. The wind farm, situated approximately 30 km off the coast, is set to commence construction in late 2026, with operations expected by late 2029.
Once operational, the Taean Offshore Wind Farm will supply enough clean energy to meet the annual electricity needs of around 300,000 households, contributing significantly to South Korea's renewable energy goals.
The project is part of Vena Energy's broader offshore wind development pipeline, which comprises 17 GW of its 39-GW global renewable energy portfolio. This agreement further underscores Vena Energy's commitment to advancing clean energy infrastructure in the Asia-Pacific region.
LS Cable & Systems' involvement highlights the strategic importance of Korean expertise and technology in enabling large-scale offshore wind projects as the region accelerates its energy transition efforts.
