Eramet Grande Cote, a subsidiary of the French mining and metallurgy group Eramet SA, has partnered with 's to finance a solar-plus-storage project aimed at providing off-grid power to the Diogo mineral sands mine in . The total investment in the project is EUR 30 million (USD 31.8 million).

The hybrid solution will consist of 20 MWp of (PV) panels paired with an 11-MWh energy storage system (BESS).

The project will meet 20% of the mine's energy needs and help reduce carbon emissions by approximately 25,000 tonnes annually.

This initiative aligns with Eramet's sustainability goals, contributing to its target of a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2035 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

It will also support Senegal's objective to cut its greenhouse gas emissions by 7% by 2025. Once completed, the Diogo mine's solar-plus-storage system will be one of the largest off-grid hybrid energy projects in Senegal.
